SUMMARY: Known as the Brown's Pony or duplex style, this resourceful insulator was primarily designed and patented to fit on the base of a duplex pin, therefore doubling the line capacity. Some duplex insulators have also been found with secondary uses in mines, thus some collectors inaccurately refer to them as "mine insulators".
