SUMMARY: This early threadless was originally designed with a wood cover to protect it from projectiles. They were largely installed in Native American territory to alleviate constant maintenance to the lines due to broken glass insulators. Even with the wood shield once covering them, the glass insulator itself can be rather difficult to find in vnm-mint condition. This example is right up there and about as good as they get, even some of the thin overpoured glass remains on the base.
