| ITEM No.: 75 CD No.: 701.6 EMBOSSING: none COLOR: Dark green. CONDITION: Overall great condition for this type, no internal fractures, having just two minor short skirt stress lines. Typical base chipping and a few other minor flakes. SUMMARY: This example clearly came from a shipwreck find, not the Richmond dig. The color is more translucent, primarily in the skirt area, compared to most of the darker eggs found in Richmond. Remnants of barnacles cover one side, while the opposing side is clean. It likely sat horizontally on the ocean floor, allowing the barnacles to attach themselves to the exposed upper side. A true museum piece. ESTIMATED VALUE: $400 - $475 OPENING BID: $300 PRICE REALIZED: $413 |
