SUMMARY: This original wood block contains an early ramshorn style insulator referred to by collectors as the Mt. Washington ramshorn. These were reportedly used in New Hampshire at a weather observatory. This 1870's ramshorn metal hook is encased in solid glass which in turn is protected by a metal outer encasement. The glass can be found in several colors; this one contains an unusual light yellow olive shade. The majority of Mt Washington ramshorns in collections today lack the original wood block due to the severe weather conditions of the region.
