SUMMARY: This battery insulator arrangement is offered as a 3 piece set, with (1) a CD 36 ESB glass "bird feeder" ; (2) a bowl-shaped lead cover; (3) a large porcelain stand. These units were patented in 1915 and used in multiples to support large battery tanks. A lead Y-shaped strap attachment was originally placed on top of the porcelain base to hold the glass insulator tightly in place, but is not available with this set. It is reported that only one complete unit with the strap is known, with this nearly complete unit following closely behind in rarity. We have no basis for establishing a true value for this rare set, so the estimate below is only a stab in the dark. It's set with a very attractive opening reserve, thus leaving it to our bidders to resolve the value quandary. 11-1/2" tall when assembled.
