CD 155 RYT, yellow, #85

ITEM No.: 85  CD No.: 155  EMBOSSING: (f) RYT [upside-down in circle] (b) TC [upside-down in triangle]  COLOR: Yellow.  CONDITION: Vnm+.  SUMMARY: There are roughly a half-dozen or so yellow RYTs known in the hobby today. As far as we know, this was the most recently discovered example. This beauty is a good two shades lighter than the standard golden yellows and even exhibits some discernible two-tone qualities, much like the lighter yellow two-tone Dominion 42s. The pinhole is very crude, as if a cold mandrel was inserted during the threading process. The discovery of this insulator was a real surprise for its finders in November of 2002. They were looking for an emerald green RYT that was previously spotted while riding the train from Guaymas to Nogales, Mexico, in 1994. This yellow RYT was found about 2 kilometers north of the emerald green one, and about 40 kilometers north of a golden yellow one they had found on a previous trip. As they were driving on a dirt road along the tracks, this one appeared to be a dirty Hemingray 45, since clear insulators holding a steel wire will stain with a rust color. Upon closer inspection it was quickly realized that it was something special and worth climbing for. Just a couple kilometers to the south, shortly after the emerald green RYT was picked, it was discovered that all the remaining poles had their crossarms stripped, possibly for use as fence posts. It is doubtful that this line will produce any more of these gems. In fact, all of the known hunting areas for popular insulators in Mexico are just about depleted. A unique color that should be seriously considered if your collecting specialty is Mexican or general colored glass.
