ITEM No.: 37  CD No.: 162  EMBOSSING: (f) McLaughlin No 19 (b) 1897-1972  COLOR: Swirled red slag.  CONDITION: Very small open base bubble, ‘factory mint’.  SUMMARY: These highly cherished red swirled commemorative insulators were produced in very limited quantities by William McLaughlin himself during the early 1970’s. William pressed several hundred commemoratives just prior to his passing, most were anything from solid white milkglass to multi-colored milkglass in varying swirl intensities. In addition, McLaughlin also produced a limited number of red commemoratives, and many were given as gifts to his family members and closer friends. This example is mostly red milkglass, but does contain some swirls of clear red glass. Unlike most other modern insulator commemoratives and reproductions, these prized examples were personally made by the actual hands of a true insulator manufacturing pioneer! Three photos providing varying lighting conditions.
